My research focusses on the way in which selected properties of social networks constrain and influence other network properties. For example, how does the structure of society affect the adoption of socially desirable behaviour? This program has two substantial threads:

  • Using simulation to investigate how complex sets of properties impact on processes that occur within societies modelled by those networks; and
  • Developing and analysing algorithms that generate networks with specific combinations of structural properties for use in the simulations.

In addition, I develop policy models and publish research concerning modelling, typically using agent-based models but also other computational social science methods. This stream of work is also described in these research interest pages.
