Modelling for decision making


In general, my research uses simulation models and related analysis techniques to understand the implications of what is believed about the world. This work uses existing techniques rather than researches new ones, but some aspects of this work lead to research papers or other publications concerning methodology. In addition, I develop models that represent many different target systems. I have a particular interest in social behaviour, and a previous interest in health financing models.

I have an extensive agent-based modelling tutorial for self learners available here for those social (or other) scientists who wish to use similar modelling methods themself.

Modelling as a Methodology (Selected)

Models can be used to bring together different perspectives of a problem, communicate the different perspectives to all people affected by an issue, and contribute to better decisions. My interest in such uses of models developed out of my years of policy development, and I contribute occasional blog posts to Integration and Implementation Insights.
